Surrounding Oxford

The highlights surrounding the city

Out and about around Oxford

The city of Oxford is rightly a fascinating place to visit.  But what of the towns and countryside around?  The Oxfordshire Plain joins the Cotswolds to the west with the Chilterns to the east.  It has the Upper Thames and its tributaries, the Coln, the Windrush, the Evenlode, the Cherwell and the Thame flowing through it.

This remote countryside is often passed through to reach more popular areas.  Here lie scattered market towns and villages, each worth its own exploration.

Making the most of a day away from Oxford

Our coach tours in the area surrounding Oxford are very varied, and are largely down to what you’d like to do.

We could spend a half day or a day encircling the city, with stop-offs at suitable locations on the way.

We could spend less time on the coach and combine the drive with a visit to one of the towns: Thame, Abingdon, Witney, Burford, Woodstock or Banbury for example are all worth further exploration.

Or we could visit one of the many attractions.  Blenheim Palace, Minster Lovell, Broughton Castle, Waddesdon Manor, Waterperry Gardens and Dorchester Abbey are just some of the many examples.

For Midsomer fans, yet more of the typical villages of the area.  Or, for Downton Abbey fans, Bampton and Cogges where many exterior shots were filmed.
